As we started off to our meeting point in Ballan, a chilly but clear morning greeted us. On arrival drizzle had started, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the 21 members who joined us, for a backroads run to the little town of Smythesdale. Twisting and turning our way across the countryside the rain got a little heavier, but on arrival at the Coach House Hotel, we were greeted to roaring fires and a cozy dining room. Lunch was enjoyed by all and there were no complaints about the delicious food we were served. The dining room had filled with about 60 members of a Motorcycle Club who were also out for a Sunday adventure, which created a great atmosphere in the old pub.

After lunch, members strolled down past the historic precinct of Smythesdale to the local Antique shop to check out the treasures inside, there was definitely some rusty gold I would have loved to have bought home. A coffee from the Thru The Gate Cafe just next door, was just what we needed for the drive home, there coffee really hit the spot and is the best in town, as advertised on their window.

We were treated to sunshine and rainbows on our drive home, the perfect end to a great day out with friends, in the beautiful Victorian countryside.
Thanks to Clara our Events Coordinator for organising the day.
