Cash will not be accepted at the entry gates. Instead, we encourage everyone to purchase tickets ahead of time.
When you arrive, your tickets can be scanned quickly, making your entrance smooth and hassle-free! No need to dig for cash or wait in long lines of traffic—just a straightforward and enjoyable experience!

The Annual Picnic at Hanging Rock will return on Sunday 9th February 2025 to celebrate all things Classic Motoring
Thanks to the continued great support of our major sponsors – Shannons Insurance, Bowdens Own and Rare Spares, this iconic event will be back for its 38th year in the shadow of the picturesque Hanging Rock.
The muted roar of engines will permeate the countryside as thousands of motoring enthusiasts flock back to The Rock for this big day out. Collectors and restorers will bring their unique rarities, including old, veteran, classic, modified and restored cars, as well as trucks and motorcycles to display. All entries, mostly of respected age over 25 years, arrives at the site of the exhibition on its own.
Entry will only be via a pre-purchased ticket through the Eventbrite website. We advise that you purchase your tickets before leaving home, as the internet is often unpredictable around the venue. The cost of entry will increase this year and further information is available on the FAQ page. Entry is based on ticket per vehicle, regardless of the patrons along for the ride.
PLEASE BE AWARE NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE GATES.
Thanks to the presale of tickets on EVENTBRITE there is no need to rush for early entry, as there is plenty of parking, gates will open at 8:00am for Classic Cars and 8:30am for the General Public. So cruise on up and settle into a prime spot (There’s acres of them). Entry for Classic Cars is via the South Gate, General Public will enter through the gate on Straws Lane and Vendors, Sponsors, Volunteers and Club Members will enter through the North Gate on Colwells Rd.
There will be exhibitions including the Shannons Team with their Big Rig, Burns & Co. Auctions, who we are excited to have as a major sponsor for the first time this year, Bowdens Own – (who will have plenty of their brilliant car care products), Rare Spares, and many more exhibitors to check out on the day. We will have many and varied vendors for you to visit and of course all kinds of vendors offering a wide range of foods & drinks.
The Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society will also have free rides for children on their Miniature Train and the Parklands, Animal Farm joins us again and you will be able to get up close to some cute and cuddly animals.
Come along and enjoy the sights and sounds in the family friendly surrounds.
Bring your picnic lunch or purchase something from one of the food stalls.
