
National Motoring Heritage Day is on Sunday 18th May, an annual event showcasing Australia’s motoring heritage, with events organised by clubs across the country. Members are encouraged to support any of the clubs who are holding special events on this day.
In the Gisborne area, you can explore vintage machinery shows like our friends at the Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society who will be holding their Annual Steam Rally in the Gisborne Steam Park behind our club compound.
Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society – Annual Steam Rally
On Sunday 18th of May members of the Gisborne Vintage Machinery Society will be staging their Annual Steam Rally at Steam Park, Webb Crescent, New Gisborne.
From 9:30 we will be welcoming patrons to the park to view operational Steam powered engines including large traction engines including a Rock Crusher, Roller, and our Perry Locomotive, Hay Bailer and Stationery Engines as well as displays of Vintage machinery, Classic Cars & Trucks and other unique collections of hobbies and memorabilia.
In addition there will be a Tractor Pull event – a variety of stalls and other exhibitions to fill in the day as well as activities for younger patrons including an Animal Farm and Camel Rides and of course our very popular Miniature Train Rides and model train displays.
Food stalls are onsite along with the essential coffee vans with EFTPOS available at the gate – entry fees being $15 for adults, children always free and Classic Display Cars and major exhibotors free.
This is a unique event in the Macedon Ranges with all members of the Society being volunteers aiming to preserve and display our Australian Heritage.
Cool Country Classics Car Club located in Trentham will also be holding their Cavalcade of Transport at the Trentham Historic Railway in Victoria Street Trentham.
The festivities kick off at 10:00am for participants and 10:30am for the public. Take along your classic or historic vehicle or motorbike and enjoy a scenic cruise to Trentham. Entry is a simple gold coin donation, with all proceeds benefiting a local community group. Local community groups will provide on-site catering, so you can grab a bite to eat while enjoying the day.
